Rajiv Kapoor was an Indian actor, film producer, and director, widely recognized as a member of the illustrious Kapoor family, one of the most influential dynasties in the history of Hindi cinema. Born on August 25, 1962, to the legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor, Rajiv embarked on his Bollywood journey in 1983 with the film Ek Jaan Hain Hum. However, his defining moment came in 1985 when he starred as Narendra in the sensational romantic drama Ram Teri Ganga Meheli, which became one of the highest-grossing films of the decade. Despite the massive success of this blockbuster, Rajiv's subsequent acting career faced challenges, leading him to transition behind the camera. He made significant contributions as a producer and director under the family banner, R. K. Films. He directed the emotionally charged drama PremGranth in 1996, starring his brother Rishi Kapoor and actress Madhuri Dixit. Additionally, he produced landmark films like Henna in 1991, directed by Randhir Kapoor, and Aa Ab Laut Chalen in 1999. Rajiv was known for his low-profile lifestyle later in life but remained deeply respected within the Indian film fraternity. He tragically passed away on February 9, 2021, due to a cardiac arrest in Mumbai.
