Nithin Kamath is an Indian entrepreneur and the founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Zerodha, India's largest retail stockbroker. Born in Shivamogga, Karnataka, Kamath began trading in the stock market at the age of 17. To support his passion for trading during the day, he worked at a call center during the night for several years. In 2004, he became a sub-broker under Kamath Associates. Recognizing the inefficiencies and high brokerage fees in the traditional Indian broking industry, Nithin co-founded Zerodha in 2010 alongside his younger brother, Nikhil Kamath. Under his leadership, Zerodha pioneered the discount broking model in India by offering flat-fee structures, which disrupted the market and spurred retail investor participation without relying on external venture capital. Expanding his impact on the Indian fintech ecosystem, Kamath founded Rainmatter in 2015, a fintech fund and incubator that supports early-stage startups. He also co-founded the investment management firm True Beacon. Known for bootstrapping Zerodha into a multi-billion-dollar enterprise, Kamath has received numerous accolades, including the Forbes India Leadership Award and being named among the top businessmen in India by The Economic Times.
