Peter Brown is an American computer scientist and financial executive who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Renaissance Technologies, one of the most successful quantitative hedge funds in history. Brown earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics from Harvard University and a PhD in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University. He began his career at IBM's Thomas J. Watson Research Center, where he worked from 1984 to 1993.
