Koppillil Radhakrishnan is a distinguished Indian space scientist, technocrat, and academic administrator who famously served as the 7th Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) from 2009 to 2014. Born in Irinjalakuda, Kerala, he graduated in Electrical Engineering from Kerala University before completing his PGDM from IIM Bangalore and a PhD from IIT Kharagpur. Radhakrishnan began his illustrious four-decade career at ISRO in 1971 as an avionics engineer at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre. His leadership pinnacle arrived when he steered India's historic Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan) from concept to fruition, making India the first nation to successfully reach Martian orbit on its maiden attempt.
