Born as Shamsher Raj Kapoor into the illustrious Kapoor film family, he was the second of the three sons of pioneer actor Prithviraj Kapoor. Shammi Kapoor made his debut in the Hindi film industry in 1953 with the film Jeevan Jyoti. While his early career saw limited success, his breakthrough came with Nasir Hussain's Tumsa Nahin Dekha in 1957, which established his image as a stylish, energetic, and rebellious playboy. He went on to define the decade of the 1960s with blockbuster hits like Dil Deke Dekho, Junglee, Kashmir Ki Kali, Teesri Manzil, and An Evening in Paris. Known as the Elvis Presley of India, his unique dancing style, charismatic screen presence, and flamboyant personality revolutionized the portrayal of the leading man in Bollywood. Kapoor successfully transitioned from romantic lead roles to character roles in the late 1970s and 1980s, winning several accolades, including the Filmfare Best Actor Award for Brahmachari and the Lifetime Achievement Award.
