Nitish made his T20I debut against Bangladesh in 3 match series on 6 October 2024 at Gwalior and scored 16 runs off 15 balls while chasing. He came to limelight in the 2nd match of the series which held at Delhi on 9 October 2024 where he scored 74 runs off 35 balls with a strike rate of 217. In the same match, he bowled with figures of 2/23, taking 2 wickets including Mahmudullah, and awarded player of the match. Born in Mumbai, Patel began his public service career with the Congress youth wing in the late 1980s before taking on administrative roles within the party's regional organization. He served as a municipal corporator in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation from Nagpada and was appointed Chairman of the Maulana Azad Minorities Financial Development Corporation with State Minister status by the Government of Maharashtra. In 2009, Patel was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from the Mumbadevi constituency and successfully maintained an unbroken winning streak across four consecutive state assembly elections in 2009, 2014, 2019, and 2024.
