Sachin Tendulkar, widely known as the God of Cricket and the Little Master, is universally regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. Born on April 24, 1973, in Mumbai, India, Tendulkar began his international career in 1989 at the exceptionally young age of sixteen. Over a legendary twenty-four-year career, he became the backbone of the Indian national cricket team and a global icon of the sport. He remains the all-time highest run-scorer in both Test and One Day International cricket, and is the only player to score one hundred international centuries. In 2011, Tendulkar achieved his lifelong dream of winning the ICC Cricket World Cup with India on his home ground in Mumbai. He retired from professional cricket in November 2013 after playing his landmark 200th Test match. In 2014, he was honored with the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, becoming the youngest recipient and the first sportsperson to receive this distinction. Following his retirement, Tendulkar has served as a mentor for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League, worked extensively as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, and served as a nominated Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha.
