Rushabh Mehta

Rushabh Mehta is an Indian software engineer, entrepreneur, and open-source advocate who serves as the Founder and CEO of Frappe Technologies and the Co-Founder of the FOSS United Foundation. Raised in Mumbai, Mehta developed an early passion for hobbyist programming during the 1990s. He went on to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Production Engineering from Mumbai University in 2001, followed by a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 2003.

Mehta's path into enterprise software began in 2005 when he sought to create a custom internal system to address operational issues within his family's furniture manufacturing business. This framework laid the structural groundwork for what would become ERPNext, one of the world's most widely recognized free and open-source enterprise resource planning solutions. In 2008, he formally established Web Notes Technologies, which later rebranded to Frappe Technologies, to commercialize and maintain the project. To bolster India's indigenous open-source ecosystem, Mehta partnered with Zerodha's Chief Technology Officer, Kailash Nadh, to launch the FOSS United Foundation in 2020. The foundation, which grew out of the earlier ERPNext Foundation, focuses on grant-making, organizing conferences, hosting hackathons, and sustaining local hacker cultures. Additionally, Mehta is highly committed to educational reform and community building, having co-founded the self-directed learning school Learners Collective in 2019.
