Kamal Nath is a veteran Indian politician and senior leader of the Indian National Congress. He served as the 18th Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh from December 2018 to March 2020, leading the state administration. Representing the Chhindwara constituency of Madhya Pradesh, Nath has been elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament, nine times, cementing his status as one of the longest-serving and most influential parliamentarians in modern Indian political history. Throughout his extensive career in the federal government, Nath has held several crucial ministerial portfolios in the Union Cabinet of India. These include the Ministry of Urban Development, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Born in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, he completed his education at the prestigious Doon School and subsequently graduated with a commerce degree from St. Xavier's College in Calcutta. His entry into active politics occurred in the 1970s, when he became a close associate of Sanjay Gandhi and established a strong bond with the Nehru-Gandhi family.
