Andy Konwinski is a prominent American computer scientist, tech entrepreneur, and investor widely recognized for co-founding several transformative pillars of the modern data and artificial intelligence ecosystems. He completed his Ph.D. in computer science at the University of California, Berkeley in 2012, where his research contributions included co-creating seminal open-source distributed frameworks such as Apache Mesos and Apache Spark. In 2013, Konwinski co-founded Databricks alongside a group of fellow Berkeley researchers to commercialize Apache Spark, helping steer its early product development, community engagement, and enterprise expansion before stepping back from day-to-day operations in 2019.
