Ajinkya Madhukar Rahane is an Indian international cricketer who plays as a right-handed batsman. Born in Ashwi Khurd, Maharashtra, Rahane grew up in Mumbai and rose through the ranks of Mumbai's highly competitive domestic cricket system. He made his first-class debut for Mumbai in 2007, quickly gaining a reputation for his discipline, solid technique, and ability to play long innings. Rahane transitioned to international cricket in 2011, making his limited-overs debut against England, followed by his Test debut against Australia in 2013. He became a mainstay of the Indian Test middle-order, renowned for his superb batting performances in challenging overseas conditions, including memorable centuries at Lord's, Melbourne, and Wellington. One of his career highlights came during the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where he captained an injury-plagued Indian side to a legendary 2-1 series victory in Australia after a crushing defeat in the first Test. In the Indian Premier League, Rahane has represented multiple teams, most notably the Rajasthan Royals and the Chennai Super Kings, helping the latter win the title in 2023 with his rejuvenated aggressive batting style.
